Portrait Procedure: Having a portrait painted and watching it come to life is a special and
exciting event. Finding an artist whose style you admire is most important. Few people ever have more than one painted in a lifetime. But it can give a lifetime of pleasure and become a cherished heirloom. For me, each portrait is a fresh journey exploring the uniqueness of others and affirming the worthiness of each person.
Types: You can choose from head and shoulder, half length, full length. Formal or informal. A classic style insures timelessness. Consider where the portrait will be displayed. Size can be customized to the space .
Procedure and Price: A written contract covers specific details such as completion date and copyrights. I require a 50% non refundable deposit at the initial preparation. Once the resource material is selected, you´ll decide the medium and the size ... and therefore the price. A double mat (off white) and a simple frame is included with works in pastel. Not included in price: tax, framing, shipping, photography, travel if required.
Background and additional objects: Depending on complexity: add 25-50%, Additional person or pets on the same canvas are priced separately.
Reference Material: Can be available photographs, or I will photograph for an additional fee. Select photographs that are bright and capture the attitude you want depicted. Clothing or setting can be changed but not the facial expression. Additional pictorial elements, personal objects, symbols, or pets can be incorporated into the painting.
Review: Near completion I´ll ask you for a "proofreading review"so that any necessary adjustments to the likeness can be made to your satisfaction.
Delivery: Expect your portrait to be ready for review in 8 to 10 weeks depending on waiting list. After your approval of the painting, either from photo or in person, we´ll make an arrangement for delivery or pick up. At this point the final payment is due.
